Cujo
Donna, a suburban housewife, is struggling in her marriage, an affair, and her day to day life. Things go bad to worse when she takes her car for repairs at a remote shop and finds herself trapped with her son, Tad, by a rabid dog. Here are a few movie mistakes to look for while watching “Cujo”.
· A close-up of Donna trying to start the car after Cujo attacks shows Tad’s right arm is outstretched with his hand touching her left shoulder. His head is a couple feet away. It cuts to a closer view as she starts banging on the steering wheel and his right arm is wrapped around her and his head is on her right shoulder.
· Tad tries to get Donna to try to start the car again. In the front, wider view, when Donna says, “OK, we’ll try”, Tad is shown crossing his fingers on his right hand. It cuts to a close-up of Donna when she says, “Cross your fingers”, and he crosses his fingers again.
· Donna is shown rolling down the passenger window half way to get some air. She takes the paper from Tad and says she’ll “give it right back”. A view from behind shows the driver’s window is up. It stays that way until Donna sees Cujo, and the driver’s window is now partially down. Donna tries to start the car again, and the driver’s window is up. She’s then shown putting the window partially down. A few moments later, the phone rings and Cujo attacks the car. The passenger window is now up. Cujo proceeds to shatter the window.
· After Cujo shatters the passenger window, Tad is crying, “I want to go home”. A view of the passenger window shows it’s intact.
· CAUTION: May Contain Spoilers! Donna takes Tad into the house and puts him on the kitchen table. The milk carton is to the right side of the cereal box. It cuts to a close-up of Donna giving Tad water and the milk carton is toward the left side of the Corn Flakes. It’s moved again in the close-up of Tad and again in the wider view when Donna is trying to get him to breathe.
“Cujo” (1983) based on the story by Stephen King, stars Dee Wallace, Danny Pintauro, Daniel Hugh Kelly, Christopher Stone, Ed Lauter, and Billy Jayne. It runs 93 minutes and is rated R for violence and gore, and frightening and intense scenes.
